HELPING
YOU CREATE SUPERIOR SERVICE
Selfless
Service
Call
it selfless, higher service, or just plain old making a difference
in the world. I believe that if you truly have the concept of service
in mind, then part of you needs to give selflessly and for the betterment
of humankind and our earth.
To
those ends, I recommend that you involve yourself in some activity
of stewardship for your community, your neighbors, other people or
our environment.
Consider
volunteering your time, giving money, reading to children or something
for the betterment of our society.
These
are some of the organizations I recommend:
-
Habitat
for Humanity helps construct homes for those in need.
-
The
Cousteau Society is concerned with the health of our oceans
and environment.
-
Give
Kids the World allows children with severe illnesses to visit
Disney World and experience a fantasy vacation with their families.
-
The
Make a Wish Foundation also works with children with serious
illnesses and their families to fulfil a life long wish.
-
The
World Wildlife Fund is dedicated to protecting the world's
wildlife and wildlands.
-
The
National Endowment for the Arts supports works of artistic
excellence, advances learning in the arts and strengthens the
arts in communities throughout the United States.
These
are books I encourage you to read:
-
Block, Peter. Stewardship: Choosing Service Over Self-Interest.
1993. San Francisco: Berrett-Koehler Publishers, 1996. More
information.
-
Kouzes,
James M. and Barry Z. Posner. The Leadership Challenge. 1995.
San Francisco: Jossey-Bass Publishers, 1997.
The
United States National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Customer Satisfaction Measurement Association
